When you think of post game quotes, you don't want to think, "It didn't make it to the water, though," or, "Hey, we got him out the three times after that." That's exactly what the Matt Ginter and Art Howe were saying yesterday after their 3-1 loss (box score) at the hands of the San Francisco Giants. Then again, they did have to play against one of the most feared hitters in baseball, huge head and all.
In the first inning, Barry Bonds, the aforementioned huge-headed slugger hit a two run homer to put the Giants on top. The Giants and Mets could have saved everyone about two hours and called it a game. The Mets went on to only score one run despite getting eight hits, one more than the Giants had.
The Giants are trying to keep their 1/2 game lead on the NL wild card spot, and the Mets did their best to help, dropping two of three, their one win coming on a 12 inning game on Saturday.
