Usually, Ask Gothamist is sort of like your mother: We tell you to be nice to your neighbors, mind your manners, eat your vegetables, and avoid junk food. But this week, Ask Gothamist advises you to eat as many cupcakes as you can - because it's Cupcakes for a Cause week.
During September 20 ? 24, bakeries throughout the city are donating part of their proceeds from cupcake sales to the CancerCare for Kids program, which provides free professional support services to children and families affected by cancer. With 16 bakeries in Manhattan (including Magnolia, Billy's Bakery, Crumb's, Amy's Bread, Sugar Sweet Sunshine, Little Pie Company, and more) and 8 in New Jersey signed up, we're sure you can find a participating bakery near your home or office. See the Cupcakes for a Cause webpage for a complete list of bakeries who are part of Cupcakes for a Cause.
This week you can have cupcakes, but next week you have to go back to eating your broccoli, OK?
