The latest crowdsourcing project from WNYC's Brian Lehrer Show asked people to find out prices for a quart of milk, a head of iceberg lettuce, and a 6-pack (bottles) of 12-ounce Budweiser. Listeners of his show found locations around the area, reported back with their results, and it's all put in a handy map.
Most expensive milk: Pathmark in Gowanus and Garden of Eden in Brooklyn Heights at $2.99
Least expensive milk: Fine Fare in Gravesend at $0.99
Most expensive lettuce: two Food Emporium locations (TriBeCa and Union Square) at $3.49
Least expensive lettuce: various locations in NYC at $0.99
Most expensive Bud: a deli in TriBeCa at $13.69
Least expensive Bud: Fairway in Red Hook at $4.49
Note: If you're paying $13.69 for a six-pack of Budweiser anywhere, you're paying way too much.
Not surprisingly, most of the higher prices beer locations are in Manhattan and most of the cheaper locations are in the other boroughs.
