- Mets 8 Pittsburgh 4: It’s funny to think now about how much criticism Omar Minaya took for the John Maine trade. In fairness, it was never called that, it was all about Kris Benson and Jorge Julio with Maine considered a minor part of the deal, but what a deal that has become for the Mets.
Maine improved to 11-4 Tuesday with seven solid innings of pitching and a home run while batting. Lastings Milledge went 3-for-3 with a home run as well and every Met except David Wright had a hit. (Maybe Wright was tired from filming commercials?)
- Yankees 9 Kansas City 4: Scott Elarton should have stayed on the disabled list. Activated before the game, Elarton gave up seven runs in less than two innings as the Yankees cruised to the win.
- Oneonta 3 Staten Island 1: Oneonta only had two hits, but walks, wild pitches and errors helped them score three times in the fourth.
- Brooklyn 9 Batavia 3: Dylan Owen improved to 3-0 and Brandon Kawal went two hits while driving in three runs as the Cyclones improved to 25-9.
