• Islanders 4 Rangers 3 (shootout): The Islanders clinched at least a share of the Metro Ice Challenge Championship! Unfortunately, the Islanders had to play the majority of their games against teams from outside the tri-state area and they didn’t do as well which is why their season is over.

For the Rangers, they got a critical point and that combined with the Devils’ loss (see below) gives them a chance to take over fourth place and get to open the playoffs on home ice. They will finish no lower than sixth no matter what happens against New Jersey on Sunday.

  • Tampa 13 Yankees 4: Ian Kennedy was bad, but the bullpen was worse. LaTroy Hawkins and Kyle Farnsworth combined to allow seven runs in the eighth. The question is, did Joe Girardi notice because he was home with the flu?
  • Philadelphia 3 Devils 0: As mentioned above, the Devils now have something on the line Sunday. Martin Biron shutout New Jersey by stopping 22 shots and setup Sunday’s pivotal game.
