• Yankees 10, Orioles 2: The Yankees' American League East lead is now 7 1/2 games after they backed CC Sabathia in his 16th victory. Alex Rodriguez picked up his 2,500th career hit as well. This game wasn't always a laugher, but a seven-run ninth took away most of the suspense. Sabathia had nine strikeouts against only one walk. The only downside is a minor groin injury for Mariano Rivera, who could miss a few games. Needless to say, he is important to the Yankees' postseason chances.
  • Rockies 5, Mets 2: A valiant six-strikeout, one-walk performance by Tim Redding went to waste. Jason Giambi, fresh from the Minor Leagues, hit the go-ahead single off Brian Stokes as the Mets fell for the second straight day. All they can do is try to play the spoiler, but they're not having much success at reprising the roles other teams played against them the past two days.
