2006_04_smetslogo.jpg - Mets 4, Astros 2: We always thought that Philadelphia fans had the reputation for being the nastiest fans in the sports, but maybe not. Last night, former Astro and current Mets MVP candidate, Carlos Beltran made a game saving catch with two runners on base in the 9th inning and hurt his knee on the fence in the process. While being helped off the field, an audible group of Astros fans were actually booing Beltran. The injury was diagnosed as a bruised knee. John Maine won for the 5th straight time as the Mets reduced their magic number was reduced to 12.

- Twins 6, Yankees 1: For the Yankees, the heavy rains yesterday didn't come soon enough. By the time the game was called in the 8th inning, the Yankees found themselves down 5 runs despite a great seven inning outing by Jeff Karstens. Karstens only allowed two runs, but was outdone by Twins starter Scott Baker, who only pitched 5 innings of one run ball. The wind seemed to stop at least one home run for the Yankees who have been stymied by Baker in his two starts against them. Justin Morneau hit a three-run homer in the 8th off Ron Villone to seal the deal for the Twins.

- Postponed by rain: Cyclones, SI Yankees, and the US Open. At the US Open, that means more rest for fan favorite Andre Agassi. Agassi plays today at 11 AM on CBS.
