- Mets 6 Cardinals 1: Yes, baseball followed all the other sports and sold out for the highest dollar, ruining the best tradition in sports, Opening Day, but at least they put a New York team into “Opening Night” this year.
It doesn’t make up for the NLCS, but the Mets got 2007 off to a great start, pummeling Chris Carpenter and getting a great start from Tom Glavine. Paul LoDuca had 3 RBI’s and Carlos Delgado had 2, while Shawn Green got off to a good start with a 2-for-4 night at the plate.
Tuesday, the Mets will get the pleasure of watching the Cardinals get their rings.
- Rangers 7 Maple Leafs 2: It is all clicking for New York right now. Henrik Lundqvist made several big stops when the game was close while Sean Avery had two goals an assist and a fight.
The win puts the Rangers back into sixth place with three games left.
- Devils 3 Bruins 1: Jay Pandolfo scored twice as the Devils jumped back into first in the Atlantic Division.
