2006_04_syankeeslogo.jpg -Yankees 6 Orioles 1: It has been a great week for New York, adding big names, going 5-1 and taking a two-game lead in the AL East. The Yankees latest victory was powered by solo homeruns from Damon, Jeter, Cabrera and Giambi combined with a shaky start from Jaret Wright. Wright only lasted his usual six innings while walking four and giving up five hits, but Baltimore could never come up with a big hit against him.

-Mets 8 Phillies 1: New York started the day by signing David Wright to a six-year/$55 million deal that will keep him in the organization into the next decade. They then went out and celebrated by knocking Soctt Mathieson all over the park with a seven-run fourth inning. John Maine pitched shutout ball for six innings, but Royce Ring gave up a home run to spoil the shutout. The win puts the Mets 13 game ahead in the NL East and whittles their magic number down to 40.

-Brooklyn 3 Tri-City 1: The Cyclones scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to get the victory.

-Lowell 9 Staten Island 6: The Spinners stormed out to a 9-1 lead and then held on for the victory. The loss puts the Baby Bomber one-game behind the Cyclones in the McNamara Division.
