Wagner got the first two outs of the ninth, but then walked Austin Kearns and David Ross and gave up back-to-back singles to Rich Aurilia and Brandon Phillips. Carlos Beltran led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk, but Carlos Delgado flied out and David Wright grounded into a double play to end the game. The Mets finish their homestand tomorrow before heading to Toronto.

-Yankees 5 Phillies 0: Five Yankees’ pitchers combined to shut out Philadelphia and give the Yankees a big win. Jaret Wright only managed to pitch five innings, going his usual 80-something pitches for the win. Ron Villone, Scott Proctor, Kyle Fansworth and Mariano Rivera came on combined to allow only one baserunner the rest of the way as New York held the Phillies to only three hits.

Miguel Cairo went 2 for 3 with a triple and scored two runs. Melky Cabrera added two hits and made a nice catch in the ninth inning. The Yankees have tomorrow off before facing old friend, Joe Girardi and his Florida Marlins this weekend.

-Staten Island 8 Brooklyn 7: The Cyclones collapsed, allowing a six-run eighth inning as they lost another game to the S.I. Yanks.

-Liberty 72 Mystics 66: Becky Hammond scored 23 points as New York won for the third time this season.
