Dillon Gee allowed four runs in six innings and then watched as the bullpen blew the game open in a 9-2 loss to the Brewers on Thursday. The defeat is the Mets' 82nd of the year and assures the Mets of their second consecutive losing season. Lucas Duda and Josh Thole had RBI doubles for the lone Mets runs. Sean Green, a forgotten man for most of the season, allowed five runs in the ninth. The Mets finish the season with three games against the Nationals at home. Right now, the Nats are the only team worse than the Mets in the National League East. New York can still finish third if it passes Florida.
