- Jazz 104, Knicks 102 (OT): It was a chance for the Knicks to get their 23rd win last night, matching their season total for last year. Unfortunatly, 22 turnovers and Mehmet Okur got the best of them. Despite having a 10-point lead with 5:03 left in the 4th quarter, the Jazz forced overtime. Quentin Richardson tied the game for the Knicks with 22 seconds remaining in OT, but the Jazz scored on a back door play with 3.6 seconds left in the game. The Knicks have two more chances to match last season's win total before the All-Star break. We wonder whether that counts as "evident progress" in Jim Dolan's book.
- Nets 93, Magic 78: Last week, the Magic drubbed the Nets by 23-points. Last night, the Nets got their revenge at the Meadowlands. Vince Carter led all scorers with 32 points, 17 of those coming in the first quarter. While Carter helped build the lead, it was Marcus Williams that propelled the Nets to the win. After the game, Orlando coach Brian Hill said, "He [Williams] came in the game and just seemed to have his way there for a little stretch. They scored 27 in the fourth quarter and the second unit was the group primarily responsible."
- Rangers 5, Capitals 2: The boo-birds came out in Washington as Jaromir Jagr was in town to face his former team. Despite the crowd, Jagr picked up his 1,500th career point in the New York victory, becoming the 12th player in NHL history to reach that mark. It's the Rangers 2nd victory in a row as they attempt to make a run for the playoffs. They currently sit 3 points behind Tampa Bay for the last spot.
- Bruins 4, Islanders 3 (SO): During the NHL All-Star competitions, Zdeno Chara won the hardest shot competition with a shot that registered 100.4 miles per hour. Earlier in last night's game, Islanders goalie Rick DiPietro took a Chara shot off his shoulder that sent him to the ice in pain. When it came down to the shootout, Chara was able to score on DiPietro by lifting his stick (as to take a slap shot) and going five-hole on DiPietro instead. The Islanders are two points behind Tampa Bay for the final playoff spot.
