  • Mets 9 Oakland 1: Tom Glavine showed that he isn’t done yet. In eight innings of work, Glavine kept the A’s tied up, allowing only seven base runners while striking out five. About the only thing he did wrong all night was getting thrown out at home, but he still went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Shawn Green had a big night at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and home run, while driving in three. The two Carlos’s both got two hits and the Mets finally got to enjoy an easy night at the ballpark.

  • Yankees 7 Giants 3: Kei Igawa came back to the majors and looked like a new man, for the first four innings Igawa dominated the Giants while the Yankees built up a 5-0 lead, but everything fell apart in the fifth. Igawa left in the fifth after loading the bases with a walk to Barry Bonds and only escaped further damage because of a great catch by Hideki Matsui.

Bonds came back to hit his 749th home run, but Mariano Rivera got the final five outs of the game to preserve the win.

  • Brooklyn 3 Hudson Valley 0: Nicholas Carr struck out ten for the Cyclones.
  • Aberdeen 4 Staten Island 3: The Iron Birds got a run in the ninth for the win.
