  • Yankees 8 Rangers 2: It’s amazing what some pitching can do for you. For the second night in a row and for only the 5th time in 31 games, the Yankee starter pitched seven innings. Tuesday night Andy Pettitte scattered seven hits while striking out four.

New York had twelve hits with Alex Rodriguez going deep for his 15th of the year and the slumping Robinson Cano slashing two doubles while making a great relay throw to nail Sammy Sosa at the plate. Doug Mientkiewicz put on a defensive clinic in the fifth with two outstanding plays at first.

The Yankees have two more games against Texas before heading out of town on a nine game road trip.

  • Cleveland 102 Nets 92: New Jersey was crushed on the boards, giving up 18 offensive rebounds while LeBron James scored 34 points. Both teams will have plenty of time to rest up as they don’t play again until Saturday.
  • Mets 4 San Francisco 1: Two men inched closer to milestones last night in San Francisco. Tom Glavine pitched 7 innings for his 4th win on the season and his 294th career victory and Barry Bonds hit his 11th home run of the season and career home run number 745.
  • Galaxy 3, Red Bulls 1: The game was scoreless in regular time, but the Galaxy dominated in extra time. With the loss, the Red Bulls won't be playing in the U.S. Open Cup. The match was a play-in game for the tournament.
