• Rangers 2 Washington 0: It wasn’t an offensive explosion, but it was enough. Chris Drury put the Rangers in front with a goal 6:45 into the second period and the power play clicked again a few minutes later when Michal Rozsival made it 2-0.

That’s all that Henrik Lundqvist needed as he recorded his 3rd shutout of the season by making 31 saves. Lundqvist has played every game of the year so far for New York, but at some point they will have to let Stephen Valiquette play a game in goal. They are going to try and get the offense going before that, but with back-to-back game coming up Monday and Tuesday, time is running out.

  • Islanders 4 Tampa Bay 0: The Lighting will be more than happy to vacate the tri-state area. Thursday night the Islanders completed the local sweep, shutting out Tampa behind 28 saves from Rick DiPietro. Mike Comrie was the only Islander to have multiple points as eight different players had a goal or an assist. The Islanders will now prepare for Pittsburgh on Saturday night before facing off with both local teams next week.
