The New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets will meet each other in the first round of the NBA Playoffs this Saturday. It has already been dubbed the "Bridge and Tunnel Battle", the "Lincoln Tunnel Series", the "Tunnel Tussle", and the "Battle of the News" (we came up with that lame one). It's Stephon Marbury vs. Jason Kidd, Old (Coach Wilkens) vs. New (Coach Frank), Knicks vs. Nets, Marbury playing his old team, it's playoff drama - hype, hype, hype!

The Daily News thinks it could be "Knicks vs. the Nicknames" because of all the nicknames the Nets have: J-Kidd (Jason Kidd), R.J. (Richard Jefferson), K-Mart (Kenyon Martin), Debo (Rodney Rogers), Veal (Brian Scalabrine), Slim (?), A-Train (Aaron Williams). That got Gothamist thinking (we do that once in a while), "What would be some good "Knicknames" for the Knicks?" Prime Minister (Cezary Trybanski), Mr. Softee (Allan Houston), Cap Liability (Vin Baker), Mpolondo Mukamba Jean Jacque Wamutombo (Dikembe Mutombo), Mama Can't Spell (Anfernee Hardaway).

During the season, the Nets won the series 3-1, but everyone knows, this is the playoffs where anything can happen. In their last meeting Jason Kidd and Kenyon Martin didn't play for the Nets and Allan Houston was out for the Knicks, but the Nets still blew the Knicks out, 108-83. There is no doubt that plenty of Knicks fans will make the trip across the river to support their team, but will that be enough to topple the Eastern Conference Champs? We're going to go with the Nets in 6.
