Trailing 7-6 at the half, the Jets scored 23 unanswered points in the second half, defeating the formerly expansion Houston Texans 29-7 yesterday in East Rutherford.

In his return from a shoulder injury that kept him out of action for a couple weeks, quarterback Chad Pennington looked like the Pennington of old, completing 20 of 27 passes for 155 yards and two scores.

When writing about Pennington's first down run, the Post said, he "bounced up from the turf like a spry golden retriever playing in the park and then gave the sellout stadium one of those gaudy first-down poses hot-shot receivers usually deliver, stepping into it and throwing his right arm forward as if hurling a javelin."

Interestingly, Daily News' Filip Bondy writes of the nature of the discourse between Pennington and coach Herm Edwards which went into the decision on the time being right for the QB to return:

HE: "You ready?"
CP: "Yup."
HE: "You sure you're ready?"
CP: "Yup."
HE: "You don't look ready."

Next Sunday, an AFC showdown so big, Gothamist will be sick of reading about it before this Friday - against the league's hottest team in Pittsburgh.
