Over the weekend, Gothamist took a trip south and checked out the AAA Mets affiliate, the Norfolk Tides. There's nothing quite like taking in a minor league double header. Things are cheaper, you can get nice and close, and it's a fan friendly environment. It's possible that Gothamist even indulged in too much food.

On the night Gothamist went, former Mets pitcher, Jae Seo pitched started the first game, but did not pick up the win. The Tides, however, did win the game, 4-2 (box score). The Tides lost the second game to the Louisville Bats, 3-1 (box score).

Unfortunately for Gothamist, David Wright, the pride of the farm system was called up to the Mets last month, so we were unable to watch him from our prime seats near third base. The Tides roster is filled with several former Mets, including Esix Snead, Aaron Heilman, Jae Seo, and Tyler Yates. Okay, so they aren't big names, because if they were, they would be with the Mets, not the Tides.

Gothamist was already a big fan of baseball, but the charm of minor league baseball makes the game that much more entertaining. In New York, you can either go to Staten Island to check out the Staten Island Yankees or to Coney Island to watch the Mets single A team, the Brooklyn Cyclones.
