2005_09_sgiantslogo.jpgIt all sounds so simple. With upcoming games against the 49ers and Dolphins the Giants should chalk up two easy wins and head into their bye week at 6-2. It sounds good and while the 49ers don’t look very impressive at first glance, there are some things that should worry the Giants.

Start with the quarterback, Trent Dilfer, who will remain the starter this week. Dilfer has had a lousy career, except for one magical day in January against the Giants. Frank Gore may only be averaging 3.6 yard per carry, but he ran for 1,695 yards last season and started this year hurt, an injury he has had two weeks to rest. And let’s not forget Mike Nolan who was the Giants defensive coordinator under Dan Reeves and would certainly like to beat his old team.

Yes, there are certainly things to worry about, but the Giants can put points on the board and even if the 49ers find some offense on Sunday, they won’t be able to outscore New York. The Giants will score early and often as they get to 5-2.
