We have a building boom in the tristate area. The Yankees and Mets have already announced their plans for new stadiums to be built for the 2009 season, the Nets are building an arena in Brooklyn, the Devils are moving to a new arena in Newark and even the Metrostars have gotten into the act.
Not to be left out are the Jets and Giants who have agreed to build a stadium together and yesterday provided some preliminary details. The stadium will have a corporate name, seat about 5,000 more fans and may even include a roof. Most importantly, as anyone who has spent most of their Sunday getting to and from Giants Stadium knows, there will be a rail link via New Jersey Transit.
The whole project will cost at least one billion dollars, possibly more if they decide to add a retractable roof. The stadium is slated to open for the 2010 football season.
