The Rangers found a new way to lose in overtime last night. Simon Gagne took the opening faceoff and skated through two Rangers before depositing the puck past Kevin Weekes. The play took just seven seconds and gave Philadelphia a 4-3 win.

The fact that Weeks was in goal was hard to understand. Henrik Lundqvist has outplayed him all season and with the Flyers in first place, this was a big game for the Rangers. Weekes allowed four goals on only 23 shots, including one on a shot from outside the offensive zone just three minutes into the game.

Due to a scheduling quirk, the Rangers still have seven games against the Flyers with half the season remaining, so they will have opportunities to make up ground. They are now seven points behind Philadelphia and are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference.
