You may have missed it in the Super Bowl hype, but the Knicks actually played an entire game without giving up yesterday. They hung in until the end and almost pulled off a miracle in their 93-89 loss to the Rockets.
Jalen Rose made an immediate contribution to the team by effectively distributing the basketball and ending the game with eleven assists, but he made a key foul late in the fourth quarter. Jamal Crawford finally had a good game, scoring 24 points on 9-15 shooting.
They may have come close to winning, but they did so at the expense of their future. David Lee didn’t play, while Nate Robinson and Channing Frye only got thirty minutes of playing time. With the present season down the drain, wouldn’t it make more sense to play the kids as much as possible? Unfortunately, that’s not the thinking at the Garden these days.
