2006_03_srangerslib.gifThe Rangers are slumping at just the wrong time. Facing one of the worst teams in the league, New York gave up 35 shots while only managing 24 of their own and lost 5-3 to Pittsburgh. The loss coupled with a Devils win over Philadelphia leaves the Rangers with a 3 point lead in the division over both teams.

Kevin Weekes played his worst game in awhile, letting in five goals and looking tired. It would be hard to blame him as he has started six games in the last nine days due to Henrik Lundqvist’s injury. The Rangers are hopeful that Lundqvist will be back for the final game of the regular season, Tuesday night against Ottawa.

Luckily, the Rangers still control their destiny. If they beat Philadelphia on Saturday they win the division. If they lose, Philadelphia will control its own fate, but New Jersey cannot be counted out either. If New York loses both of its remaining games, the Devils could still win the division by winning their two remaining games.
