Both local baseball games lost this afternoon. The Yankees lost to the Rangers, 6-2, splitting the four game series. Jared Wright was impressive for 6 innings, but was tagged for 3 runs in the 7th inning. Johnny Damon, who is playing with a foot injury, was slotted in at DH for the game.

2006_04_smetslogo.jpgIn St. Louis, the Mets continued to struggle on the road, losing their 3rd consecutive road series by losing to the Cardinals 6-3. The loss was their 3rd with Jose Lima as the starter, proving that Lima Time is a bad time. In his three starts, Lima has allowed 14 earned runs, good for a 8.79 ERA. Most impressively, Lima didn't allow a home run to Albert Pujols. Gothamist will ignore the fact that Pujols was sitting the game out.

Worse than their recent road trip was the news that Brian Bannister left his rehab start in Norfolk after only 5 pitches. Bannister, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, is scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. With that news, it's possible that there could be more Lima Time coming in 5 days.

The Yankees and the Mets face each other for three games starting tomorrow at Shea Stadium. Is it us, or does interleague play seem really early this year?
