TurnStyle, the shopping and dining venue that opened last spring in a subway station passageway at Columbus Circle, has changed up its vendor lineup to include some incendiary new tenants.
Champion Pizza, which slings pies in Nolita, has brought its signature square "Grandma" pies to Midtown. Champion's packed pies come in flavors like Chicken BBQ, Mac n Cheese and Chicken Bacon Ranch, but the showmanship belongs to owner Hakki Akdeniz, who handles pies that are literally on fire.
Venezuelan restaurant Arepa Factory has also expanded from downtown to set up shop at TurnStyle. They'll have a DIY arepa option with various meat and vegetarian fillings, while also serving their signature arepas, including Pabellon with shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains and guyanese cheese; and the Verde Fresca vegan option made with a chia arepa stuffed with avocado, tomato, arugula and roasted peppers.
Two new purveyors of sweet treats will also be debuting in the coming weeks. Panda Bubble Tea will offer milk- and juice-based teas with a choice of fillings like traditional tapioca balls. 16 Handles will also be opening in the space offering their signature mix-and-match, self-serve froyo and toppings model.
Though they're not brand new to the space, vegan spot Blossom du Jour and crepe eatery By Suzette have joined forces for a collaboration item that's available now at the By Suzette stall. They'll be doing a vegan mac n cheese crepe topped with a creamy vegan cheese sauce. So far as we know, no pyrotechnics were involved in the process.
