So, Wendy's is all set to depose Burger King as the second biggest burger chain in the land, and to celebrate they've decided to reenter the Japanese market with an over-the-top pr stunt. The kind that includes a $16 foie gras burger. Because when we think "let's dine on decadent duck liver," we always think "fast food." Don't you?

Sadly, like so many fast food concepts, it's unlikely Wendy's extravagant new dish will see the light of day on our shores (especially not in California). But that's okay! If you really want to fowl up your burger with some liver, New York's restaurants will happily oblige. At the top of the heap is the $32 "Original db Burger" at Daniel Boulud's db Bistro Moderne—a sirloin burger filled with braised short ribs, foie gras and black truffles on a parmesan bun that goes right to your pleasure centers (and gut)—but other folks serve 'em up, too. In Carroll Gardens Provence en Boite will add foie gras to your $15.50 burger for an additional $5. And at the West Village's Takashi they are now selling a $20 "foie gras stuffed mini Kobe burger with chocolate BBQ sauce." Mmmmm... chocolate gras burgers...

See? No reason to be jealous of our chain's international extravagances. Know of any other foie gras burgers worth noting? Put them in the comments.
