2005_03__food_wine.jpgIt's not spring quite yet, so you could probably still use a little wine to keep you warm. Lucky for all of us, there are some great wine events coming up to do the trick:

March 7th through the 11th is National Wine Week. The Smith and Wollensky restaurant group offers ten samples of wine for ten dollars on top of your meal. A percentage of the proceeds benefits Citymeals-on-Wheels. For a full list of restaurants, visit www.nationalwineweek.com and call 212-753-1530 for reservations.

March 11th and 12th brings us Wine Rave NYC, a unique wine event designed to be more laid-back and less formal than traditional wine tastings. Sample more than 200 wines and attend "Sips of Wisdom," casual 30-minute classes, or just stop by the "Hip Sips Lounge" to talk with wine industry folks about the wines you're sampling. Tickets, which are $48 per person, or $80 for a VIP ticket that includes special VIP hours, priority admission to seminars, access to a VIP lounge area and a complimentary gift, are available online at www.wineravenyc.com, by calling 212-352-9900, or at the door. Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street on Friday, March 11, from 6 p.m. (5:00 p.m. for VIP ticket holders) to 10 p.m., and Saturday, March 12, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
