Finally, a chance for desk jockeys to experience the greenmarket without waking when the rooster crows! Tonight A Midsummer's Night at Greenmarket takes over Union Square, bringing farmers, restaurants and some entertainment to the park from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. This first-ever nighttime greenmarket in the space marks the 37th year of operation for the USQ Greenmarket.

Stock up on fresh, local produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods from some of the market's regular providers. Area restaurants will also be on hand selling individual dishes, desserts and beverages, including Back Forty/Back Forty West, Rouge Tomate and Telepan. A special Brooklyn Brewery pavilion pours the local Greenmarket Wheat while a few local bands supply the soundtrack. Hopefully the temperature will dip below 90 by quitting time.
