You guys, tomorrow is National Waffle Day! Seems like just yesterday it was International Waffle Day. Anyway, this means Wafels & Dinges is the place to be. The truck will host a pageant and be crowning Miss Wafel & Mister Wafel, as a centerpiece to their all day waffle celebration. The winners will get a full year of free waffles—which sounds like a very dangerous thing to have access to.

If you want a free taste of your own, Thomas DeGeest (AKA “The Wafel Guy”) is inviting any child—or anyone who draws like a child—to create pictures of wafels or the Wafels & Dinges truck, which will be then decorated with the artwork; if you hand over a drawing you'll get a free waffle! The pageant will go down tomorrow on East 52nd Street (between Lexington and 3rd Avenue), from 1 to 2 p.m. But you can celebrate waffles at any location, and all day long—perhaps even with a monstrous Dunkin' Donuts Waffle Breakfast Sandwich?

A couple of fun waffle facts: National Waffle Day marks the anniversary of the first U.S. patent for a waffle iron, which happened on August 24th, 1869. And New York City is the birthplace of the Belgian waffle, which was first introduced at the 1964 World’s Fair.
