Chocoholics, get ready for a bender: From Friday through Sunday, dozens of chocolate purveyors in Manhattan and Brooklyn will be observing the first ever Chocolate Weekend, a three day celebration of sweet, edible darkness. Participating establishments will be offering free tastings, discounts, chocolate-making demonstrations, and workshops for those who want to try this at home. You can peruse a map on the Chocolate Weekend website showing all the locations, which include Michel Cluizel, the Cocoa Room, Bond St. Chocolate, L'Atelier du Chocolat and FIKA.

FIKA Chef Hakan will create chocolate sculptures at the Downtown Pearl Street location, Chocolat Moderne is opening their Chelsea loft chocolate factory, and L.A. Burdick on East 20th Street is hosting a chocolate tasting session led by NY's only "Chocolate Sommelier," Roxanne Browning of Exotic Chocolate Tasting. Chocolate lovers who visit the most stores and get their chocolate passports stamped will be entered in a raffle to win 10 gourmet chocolate gifts baskets, courtesy of Savorique and participating chocolatiers. Jacques Torres is offering a 10% discount for customers who show their Chocolate Passport, which can be downloaded for free from the organizer's website. It's not a huge discount, but hey, any excuse to make eating chocolate the focal point of your weekend is fine by us.

And in a month, it's The Chocolate Show, which usually features, among other things, a haute chocolate fashion show. Check it out.
