Now that Thanksgiving's out of the way, we can turn our attention to winter and snow and Christmas and those kinds of things. Beginning this weekend, Williamsburg's Belle Shoals becomes "Silver Belles" in their large outdoor area. Snow pits and hot cocktails like the Baby It's Cold Out Cider (house cider spiked with apple brandy and whiskey) keep everyone warm while playing corn hole beneath snow-covered trees.

Humboldt & Jackson begin their seasonal takeover of Uncle Louie G's ice cream parlor on Graham Avenue in Williamsburg this Thanksgiving weekend. Thursday through Saturday evenings they'll be serving a comfort food menu out of the tiny space with options like Grilled Mac & Beer Cheese ($9), Meatless Market Chili ($9), and a bunch of different hot dogs. On Sundays, a rotating cask of local food talent, starting with Rangoon Noodle Lab this weekend.

With most of the masses out of town, this is an excellent weekend to snap up reservations at some of the city's celebrated restaurants like those awarded Michelin stars for a special dinner or one of the Bib Gourmands for a dining deal. Many are open for both brunch in addition to dinner, like John Fraser's excellent vegetarian eatery Nix (one star) and El Atoradero (Bib), while others are just doing dinner like The Modern (two stars) and Llama Inn (Bib).
