2005_07_food_nycicy.jpgAs some of you have pointed out, one of our favorite summer spots, NYC Icy, is no more. Like you, we had the same reaction -- severe depression. Where are we supposed to go now to get our cool summer treats on, especially on a day like today?!? We've come up with a few suggestions on our own, and the Daily News added a bunch to our list.

Otto Enoteca Pizzeria/Gel-Otto Gelato Cart
Yes, not exactly ices, but the sorbet tastes like fresh fruit kicked up to an extreme intensity, and the gelato is not to be missed. Your choice of indoors (at 1 Fifth Avenue, at 8th Street) or outdoors (on the northwest corner of Washington Square Park).

The Lemon Ice King of Corona
We hit this place up on a bike ride one hot summer day and have been in love ever since. For those with outer-borough phobia, this one's well worth the trip. 52-02 108th St. at 52nd St., Queens, (718) 699-5133.

Il Laboratorio del Gelato, 95 Orchard St., between Broome & Delancey Sts.212 343 9922 & Ciao Bella Gelato, 285 Mott Street(and more)212-431-3591
Once again, not quite ices, but some damn good gelato. Ciao Bella tends to be a bit sweeter than Il Laboratorio, so follow your tastebuds.

Any and all ice suggestions are welcome, or more accurately, needed for medicinal purposes.
