Celebrated Greek chef and goatee aficionado Michael Psilakis opened the Williamsburg outpost of his MP Taverna fleet on Driggs Avenue last month and now the neighboring venue and bar, The Hall Brooklyn, has made its debut as well. Billed as both a performance space and spot to grab a quick bite or drink, the space will host live music, comedy and other types of entertainment plus Mediterranean dishes and a substantial draft alcohol program. Finally, something good for the locals.

For the opening two weeks, events at the venue will be free, including a Blues-inspired set with Sophia Urista, a performance by Grammy Award-winning Flamenco guitarist Hernan Romero and the Stand Out Stand Up comedy show hosted by Eddie Brill.
The impressive draft beer list includes 28 craft brews, all of which are half price during daily happy hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Same goes for the dozen draft wines and draft cocktails, including a classic Aviation with gin and creme de violette and the Brown Derby made with bourbon, grapefruit and honey. Also, while the free shows are going on, the bar will be offering two-for-one drinks to boot.
Next door, Psilakis is doing large format-type dishes like whole roasted pigs, lambs and kid goats and those can be ordered here too with advance notice. But the bar snacks actually sound better suited to an evening of dancing or laughing. We're told to expect Harissa Chicken Tacos and Crab Tzatziki plus sliders made with Halloumi, the squeaky, grilling cheese from Cyprus.
