The much-hyped opening of the resurrected Tavern on the Green has gotten pushed back again. Sure, you thought you'd be sitting in what's left of the Crystal Room, sampling celebrity chef Katy Sparks' "casual" high-priced fare and wondering what happened to Rick Moranis by now, but this is Tavern on the Green, and nothing will go right.

The restaurant, which has been shuttered since January 2010, was supposed to open by the end of this month, but owners Jim Caiola and David Salama say persnickety fork shopping construction delays are keeping them closed for now. "The complexity of this job is triple what we all thought it would be,” Caiola told Crain's New York, adding that “the building is old and had not been kept up."

Caiola and Salama say they hope to have Tavern on the Green 2.0 open by the end of January. We'll believe it when we see it.
