A new Southern-fried brunch to add to your radar: 33 Greenwich in the West Village. Chef Anne Thornton crafted a menu of Texas and New Orleans-inspired dishes like the Fried Chicken & Beignet Platter ($20), Sausage Biscuit Benedict ($16), and Breakfast Bread Pudding ($14), a savory take on the dish made with eggs, cheddar, peppers, onions and mushrooms with brioche bread. Sweets include Praline Cinnamon Rolls ($12) and Bananas Foster French Toast ($16), and there's a DIY Mimosa set-up ($25) with orange, peach and blood orange juices served with a bottle of cava.
If you can't make it to the seashore this weekend, consider... NoMad? On Saturday, Dale Talde's restaurant Massoni in the Arlo hotel will transform into a Lobster Shack, serving unlimited lobster and lobster-friendly foods along with unlimited beer for $65 per person. Roll up for lobster bake (potatoes, corn, sausage), lobster rolls, chilled lobster, and peel and eat shrimp. A Sunday evening supper celebrates American cuisine and Australian wine; "just like alligators and crocodiles, these two cultures share so much yet are completely different beasts," a description of the event reads. Melbourne-based Otis Armada will set up at North Brooklyn Farms in Williamsburg for What a Croc!, serving a "modern farm-to-table take on nostalgic American classics" like pot roast and walking tacos (aka Frito Pie). They're also promising things like art and sound installations at the waterfront garden, which will also be the source of some of the local ingredients for the "four plus" course meal ($110).
Greek Island Salad (The Smile)
Grab a taste of Greece without the flight at The Smile in NoHo, where Chef Melia Marden looks to her summers spent on the island of Kamini for her Sunday night Greek menu. She'll be preparing light dishes like Greek Island Salad; Whole Grilled Fish seasoned with lemon, olive oil and oregano; Grilled Lamb Shoulder; and Greek Dips with house-made grilled flatbread.
