Brooklyn has lots of bars, sure, but what's one more? Especially one in the South Slope with a strong pedigree (one of the partners was a general manager at Employees Only), a restored original tin ceiling and a whole slew of wines, cocktails and beers. Everyone, give a hearty hello to Mary's Bar, which recently opened on 22nd Street and Fifth Avenue.
The not small establishment boasts a refurbished 28-foot bar, a wrap-around banquette, an original tin ceiling and nice mood lighting via vintage lamps. They've also got darts and a pool table ($1 a game) and, come spring, they've got high hopes for having people in their backyard. The one thing you shouldn't expect? Any bar bites. Basically, Mary's Bar aims to feel like a classic bar that has been in the neighborhood forever. Nothing wrong with that!
