How much did you spend on lunch today? $10 for a salad at Chop't? $7.50 for a sandwich at Pax? A whopping $175 on the lunch tasting menu at per se? Regardless, if you set that amount of money aside tomorrow, May 14th, and donate it to City Harvest's Skip Lunch, Fight Hunger campaign, you can make a difference in the lives of hungry New Yorkers.
That $5 you'd ordinarily spend on two slices of pizza can help feed four children for a week and you don't actually need to skip lunch to help out! You can help, even with a small donation. Make a tax-deductible donation online here.
According to City Harvest, 1.5 million New Yorkers currently live in poverty, struggling to afford basic necessities including buying good for themselves and family--and more than one million will rely on emergency food at some point during the year. Last year's campaign raised more than $460,000 in a single day and the City Harvest Team is shooting for $500,000 or beyond this year.
