Perhaps this was inevitable: we have just learned that LES Australian restaurant Bondi Road, which was all set to whip up some tasty Mako shark tacos for their birthday celebration this weekend, have switched to shrimp tacos instead. Score one for the environmentalists!

Owner Heathe St. Clair decided to pull the shark plug after customer concerns regarding dwindling shark populations, saying “It is not our intention to offend anyone, so we’ll throw some shrimp on the barbie instead." Because, really, how could you eat something that moves so fast it's described as "the cheetah of the sea?"
