The site of Columbia University staple Ollie's Noodle Shop, which was nearly destroyed in a fire back in 2015, is now home to the city's latest Shake Shack. Opening Wednesday at Broadway and 116th Street, the new Shack is practically a part of Columbia's and Barnard's campuses, lucky students. Shake Shack was considered north of The Wall during the Dark Ages when I was at NYU, though we did have Blue 9 Burger (RIP).

Burgers, dogs, chicken sandwiches—by now we all know the drill. Will students (and locals) be gifted with the elusive Shake Shack breakfast? Stay tuned to find out. Update: No breakfast, but they'll have the spicy chicken sandwiches (see full menu below).

Special concretes include the Shack Attack® (chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough and Mast Brothers Shake Shack dark chocolate chunks, topped with chocolate sprinkles) and the Heights Bites (vanilla custard, frosted butter cake from Make My Cake and salted caramel sauce). Five percent of sales of the third concrete—the Pie Oh My (vanilla custard and a slice of Four & Twenty Blackbirds seasonal pie)—will be donated to the Fresh Air Fund, which hosts free outdoor activities for NYC kids during the summer.

While 75% of the college community won't be able to participate—unless fake IDs have come a long way since my college days—this Shack will serve Brooklyn Brewery ShackMeister Ale and Frog’s Leap Winery's Shack Red and Shack White.
