Two years after tossing aside the meatballs for fishier fare, The Meatball Shop's Michael Chernow expands his Seamore's brand into Chelsea—with an underground rum bar in tow.
The bar, called Fishbones, doesn't open for another two weeks or so, but they're promising bespoke rum cocktails made from smaller rum producers. GTFO, Malibu. With mezcal seemingly the spirit of the moment, this is a nice departure—and just in time for summer. Their opening signature cocktail is the "Rum & Coco," which can be served out of a coconut.
The fresh catch of the day anchors the new Chelsea location, too, along with new dishes including a Blackened Fish Burger, a Nicoise Salad and a Poke Taco, perhaps modeled after the poke takeout window that popped up at the Nolita original last summer. Non-seafood options include a "Big Cheese" Burger with bacon, Shrimp + Short Rib Tacos, and Crispy Broccoli with fried onions, grapes and roasted garlic aioli.
