The second annual Brooklyn Pour brews its way into the borough next month, bringing loads of craft breweries together for an epic day of drinking. On October 6th, sample craft beers and ciders from around the country—with special attention dedicated to tri-state breweries like the Fire Island Beer Company and Butternuts Beer and Ale—plus local stalwarts Brooklyn Brewery and Sixpoint. All told, almost 50 breweries will present 100 plus brews for you to sample to your heart's content.

Your $45 ticket gets you three hours of unlimited samples of all that delicious beer plus a souvenir tasting glass, demonstrations, meet & greets, beer talks and more. Food will also be available for purchase, a wise choice considering all that available alcohol. And this year the Village Voice, which is presenting the event, will try to decrease the crowding by organizing the event into two separate "sessions" to ensure you'll have plenty of elbow room to sip your saison. Proceeds from the event go to the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC), which fosters abandoned animals until they can find their forever homes.

The venue certainly sweetens the deal as well. Skylight One Hanson, located inside the former Williamsburgh Savings Bank Clocktower, boasts vaulted ceilings, marble columns and sparkling mosaic murals. It even has the original carved teller stations! And while these types of events require a degree of patience and fortitude—not to mention the ability to hold your liquor—as long as you know what to expect, you'll come away with some new brew knowledge and a nice buzz to boot.
