Here's a juicy little bit of gossip, no pun intended: Starbucks, apparently not content to simply displace quaint neighborhood institutions and kick out freeloading freelancers, is maybe looking to expand into the juice market, too.

Page Six reports that Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz spent some serious recon time at Liquiteria and The Juice Press in the East Village before hiring a Liquiteria manager to come train his staff in Seattle in the art of the juicer. "He said he wants to start dividing coffee shops within weeks to make one half a pressed juice ‘grab and go’ bar," writes the paper.

Hey, if Duane Reade is already busting out orange-mango-banana smoothies, Starbucks better hop on that train ASAP.
