For those in Red Hook still reeling from the searing disappointment of Brooklyn Crab, there's now an appealing outdoor alternative, on the weekends at least. Open every Saturday and Sunday until September, Fairway's Red Hook Patio Grill is a laid-back way to dig in on the waterfront, with a solid menu of chicken, lamb, burgers, hot dogs, and a competitively-priced $12 lobster roll. Sides and desserts include blueberry pie, fresh-squeezed lemonade, organic ice cream sandwiches and the classic corn on the cob.

Of course the location's magnificent—behind the Fairway and right on the water, with a view of the Statue of Liberty and a fascinating decrepit trolley. And it goes without saying that Red Hook also has its share of fun things to explore afterwards, including a glassbending studio, free afternoon canoeing kayaking off Valentino Pier, and one of our favorite bars in NYC: Sunny's.

450-500 Van Brunt Street, Red Hook; (718) 694-6868; Open Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m to 8 p.m.
