Just an FYI to anyone looking to open a DIY shrimp warehouse—you do need a license for that sort of thing. And one Queens man learned that the hard way this week when he was convicted of storing and selling undersized fish without the proper documents.
Oi Ming Chen, 46, owns the Ace Group Seafood International Trading Corp. in Flushing, Queens. On Thursday, he was convicted for an October 2011 bust that caught him improperly storing fish and crustaceans without a license; he was also found to be distributing undersize blackfish and toadfish. They were reportedly being kept in cement tubs filled with water which, you know, doesn't sound all that appetizing.
Chen, who will be sentenced next month, faces up to four years in prison and could pay a fine of up to $10,000.
