Finally! It's the moment you, street food aficionado, have been waiting for: after weeks of buildup and agonizingly paced teaser announcements, the finalists for this year's Vendy Awards have been announced, mere days before the event itself. Drumroll, please!

The nominees are: Solber Pupusas, a Red Hook ball fields/ Smorgasburg favorite; Eggstravaganza, a Midtown Mexican-American sandwich expert; Washington Heights' Chimichury el Malecon, which makes Dominican hamburgers called Chimis; Souvlaki GR, Financial District Greek peddlers; Tamales Guadalupe, a Bushwick tamale stand run by a single mother; Trini-Paki Boys Halal Food, Midtown's longstanding Trinidadian/Pakistani cart; and Sam's Falafel, serving the eponymous Middle Eastern meal in the Financial District.

Is this really the best street food in the city? Who truly deserves the coveted Vendy Cup? Judge for yourself on Governors Island this Saturday—general admission tickets are sold out, but there are still some Early Bird and VIP spots available.
