Panic swept through the city's cubicles today after the Wall Street Journal published an article about how Starbucks' around the country are running out of the supplies necessary to whip up the Pumpkin Spice Lattes urbanites so desperately need. "My world almost ended this morning when the local Starbucks told me they were out of Pumpkin Spice Latte," one Kentucky man tweeted. But when we went out today to see whether our local Starbucks had it, an employee said they had no idea about any shortage. So has a shortage been overblown? Is there even really a shortage? Or could this be some sort of conspiracy between Rupert Murdoch and Howard Schultz to drive up Pumpkin Spice Latte prices because there's no news like bad news??

Starbucks Corp. SBUX officials told the Journal that "there is no widespread scarcity of the sauce used to make the drink, though they acknowledge shortages at some stores due to infrequent deliveries." That certainly hasn't stopped people from going bonkers on Twitter, nor from latte junkies bemoaning the fates on Starbucks Gossip. And even if the shortage hasn't quite gone national yet, what's going to happen after another 1,000 stores get added?

There's always another way: we can free ourselves from the tyranny of having to choose between grande and venti by making our own lattes! Here are multiple recipes for how you can make your own pumpkin spice latte. So go forth and break free from the shackles of calorie counts.
