Last year, the fried chicken-and-donut wizards behind beloved eatery Pies 'n Thighs announced they'd soon be blessing Manhattan with a 10-pound weight gain, just like they did to Williamsburg. Months have gone by with no word regarding this new outpost, forcing our deep fried food-deprived brains to believe we have been cruelly tricked. AT LONG LAST, though, Pies 'n Thighs's owners say a Canal street shop is promptly on its way, with an expected open date in mid-January. Oh well, New Year's resolutions are silly anyway.
Lower East Side's Pies 'n Thighs will be located at 43 Canal Street between Ludlow and Orchard Streets, and the owners promise they'll feed us mostly the same good stuff they've got across the East River. New additions including a chicken soup with chicken dumplings, a cauliflower gratin, and a collard green salad—they're also debuting a sourdough donut, which sounds...interesting.
The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on weekdays, and for brunch and dinner on weekends. They'll also be offering delivery soon after opening, so now's as good a time as any to throw all your non-stretchy pants in a pile and burn them for warmth.
