[UPDATE BELOW] The fried chicken and sweets shamans at Williamsburg eatery Pies 'n Thighs reportedly plan to open an outpost on the Lower East Side. And if that isn't news that fills you with giddy, buttery joy, it's because you do not appreciate a well-crafted slice of Choco-Peanut-Butter-Crunch pie, and THEN WHAT IS THE POINT OF LIVING, EVEN.
According to the Lo Down, Pies 'n Thighs will be opening a second location at 43 Canal Street, between Orchard and Ludlow Streets. That address is a mere four blocks from Gallery Bar, where beloved bar Max Fish is rumored to resurrect at some point. There may be be a future in which you follow a Pies 'n Thighs chicken biscuit feast with $3 whiskey rail shots. There is some hope in this dark, cold world.
No word on a prospective opening date or menu, though the Lo Down noted that the owners have applied for a beer-and-wine license. We contacted the restaurant for more details and will update when we hear back; in the meantime, may your dreams be filled with buttermilk biscuits and banana cream.
Update 11:07 a.m.: Co-owner Sarah Sanneh has confirmed Pies 'n Thighs's Canal Street outpost, with a prospective opening late this summer. The menu will have all the Williamsburg classics, though there will be some dishes specific to the LES location as well.
