Prohibition ended 80 years ago today (here's where to celebrate tonight), and we thought we'd look back at some of the more horrifying images captured during that dry time: when they flushed away the sweet, intoxicating alcohol before it could touch one's lips. We included a few more hopeful images of beer shipments following the repeal, to help you stave off nightmares. The NY Times reported on the repeal 80 years ago, noting that New Yorkers celebrated with "quiet restraint"... yeah right.
