Almondine Bakery, a gem in DUMBO that offers delicious and decadent pastries and breads as well as savory sandwiches, soups and quiches, was hit very hard during Hurricane Sandy. Owner Hervé Poussot has been trying to rebuild his kitchen (which was housed in the basement) and his friends have rallied together to raise money for him. Today and tomorrow, there's a pop-up fundraiser at Almondine to help the efforts!

According to DumboNYC, "Chefs around NYC are rallying by donating the finest cakes, pastries, and chocolates for sale at this event. Pastry chefs from Payard, Le Bernardin, Épicerie Boulud, Valrhona, Bouchon Bakery, Dominique Ansel, Ceci-Cela, and more are participating." In other words, buy yummy treats and help a great small business!
Almondine is located at 85 Water Street, Brooklyn. The pop-up is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. today (12/15) and tomorrow (12/16).
